Raphael Orlove came to visit me in the spring. I had a few rally cars in my garage at the time, and he decided to see if he could get in the former back seat area of each. The Subaru sedan wasn't all that difficult. Open the back door, mind the belts, and Bob's your uncle. Then however, he decided to move onto the Yaris, which he was determined to get into without using the rear hatch because that's cheating.
This is that Yaris, which, as you might notice, is conspicuously lacking in rear doors. It also, of course, has fixed seats and a substantial roll cage !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . And yet Raph was determined to get back there. And, after nearly ten minutes of wriggling, struggling, laughing, cursing, and popping noises that may have been the dislocation of joints...
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Well hell, that's close enough.

We shenanigan on occasion. I was the organizer and intermediary, road trip companion, and co-photographer when he did his first Team O'Neil Rally School story, which was our first adventure together. Since I've talked him into volunteering at a number of rallies and helped prepare him to co-drive at this year's New England Forest Rally. Apparently I taught him too well, because he beat me.

I've always wondered.
Is "Dusty Ventures" like "ventures that are dusty"?
Or
"Dusty Ventures" like a person named Dusty actually ventures

More the former, though there is a bit of a double meaning. The name started with my Boy Scout Venture Crew. The crew created a desert race program, so we named the team Dusty Ventures Motorsports. So the joke is that the ventures are dusty and so are the Venture scouts.

Dangerous game for Raph. We've all seen those shows where a guy is in a cave and barely gets through some tight squeeze and then we all have heard the reports of the guys who try that same thing and don't make it and end up dying in the cave. I just picture a lost Raph skeleton bouncing around in the back of the Yaris... "Poor guy got wedged between the upright and the B pillar and was never heard from again." Years later someone finds his left over bits in the floorboards.
